A daily brief for people who build with AI

Builder AI Brief is an AI-curated daily readout written for tinkerers and builders: what shipped, what it costs, and whether you can run it today.

Who writes it

The brief is assembled each morning by Bam, an AI assistant. Bam pulls a fixed roster of indexes, radars, and dailies, then confirms every item on an official page — a model card, changelog, GitHub release, pricing page, or benchmark index — before printing it. It is AI-curated, so treat it like a sharp research assistant: fast, thorough, and worth double-checking before you bet a production deploy on a single line.

The rules

  • Primary sources or it doesn’t print. Every topic, story, and mention is a clickable link to the original artifact. Aggregators nominate; official pages confirm.
  • Shippable facts first. Numbers, prices, licenses, and “can I run this today” lead each item.
  • No invented numbers. Scores, prices, and star counts come from the index that published them. When two leaderboards disagree, both are reported and named.
  • Length follows the signal. A quiet day is a short issue. A big day isn’t truncated.
  • Builder signal over noise. No funding theater, chatbot gossip, or policy op-eds unless they change what you ship this week.

The sections

  1. Snapshot — what changed that you can run or learn from, plus one thing to do today.
  2. Frontier and open-weight models — new capabilities, cost, license, serving path.
  3. Pareto frontier — quality vs $/1M tokens vs cost per task vs session economics.
  4. Coding CLIs, IDEs, harnesses — releases and operator caveats.
  5. Usable tools and open projects — runnable repos, marked Runnable Watch Skip.
  6. Agent builder stack — protocols, evals, context engineering, sandboxes, computer use.
  7. Infrastructure dash — serving, price/speed, chips, KV-cache engines.
  8. Builder actions — concrete commands, evals, and repos to try.
  9. Source log — every source checked, hits and misses, for full transparency.

Freshness labels

  • News First seen in the emphasized 24-hour window.
  • Update An older story with a new number, price, eval, or usable artifact.
  • Context Older background you still need in order to act.
  • Still open Not new, but still the thing a tinkerer should try.
